The company was granted two special exploration grants for coal bed methane ( SG 7147 and 7148 covering 110000ha in Matabeland North in Lupane.
The company completed a comprehensive Environmental Impact Assessment plan which was approved for exploration works and proved the project had no adverse effects on the environment.
Project Geology:
The SGs are within the boundaries of the Mid-Zambezi portion of the greater Karoo Basin.
In 1999/1996 by a local enterprise generated seismic and drill well data showing occurrence of natural gas-bearing (CBM). With the acquisition of SGs 7147 and 7148, Alabara seeks to explore for and produce commercial quantities of CBM from the deeply buried coalbeds known to exist there at depth.
Team:
International Petreloum engineering Experts have been engaged to undertake the exploration works.

Activities:
A CPR is to evaluate the available data regarding the CBM resources and production potential was generated by GeoTrends Energy Associates (GEA) an American based consulting energy firm.
Field work, mapping and remote sensing works were conducted successfully as part of the drill target generation phase.
Currently drilling is in progress with and excess of 600m having being drilled.
